Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Livestock Manager for the daily planning, organisation, supervision and administration of all activities on the calf rearing unit.
Responsibilities:
• Excellent forward planning and scheduling ability;
• Maximising the Daily Live Weight Gain (DLWG) of all livestock in the rearing unit;
• Organising feeding, bedding and scheduled vaccinations/husbandry procedures for all livestock;
• Ensuring livestock are reared to the highest standards;
• Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records;
• Recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers;
• Making sure that all scheduled work is carried out in an organised and efficient manner;
• Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards;
• Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases;
• Ensuring that the rearing unit is profitable and meets projected financial targets;
• Organising maintenance/repair of property, equipment and machinery;
Requirements
• Successful previous experience as a farm manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets through the efforts of your team;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organisation Process and target driven;
• Proven ability to implement and drive procedures and tasks from plan to close;
• Strong commercial/business sense;
• Excellent coaching and people management skills;
• Team player – working in co-operation with colleagues;
